Savannah Chrisley Explains Her New Clothing Line: ‘You Can Look Fashionable, While Also Being Covered’

One of Savannah Chrisley’s biggest dreams is coming true: She’s becoming a fashion designer.

The Southern pageant queen, 19, will give viewers a sneak peek at her new line with HSN, Southern Charm, on tonight’s episode of Chrisley Knows Best (Tuesdays at 10/9c on USA).

In the episode — see an exclusive sneak peek below! — Savannah travels with her father, Chrisley family patriarch Todd, to New York to meet with HSN executives as well as family friend and fellow HSN designer Giuliana Rancic, who helped facilitate the meeting.

“I have always dreamt of being a fashion designer,” Savannah says in the clip. “I’ve thought about this moment for so long, and now that it’s finally here, it just gives me this huge rush of adrenaline.”

Of course, the Chrisleys have always been into clothes. In a 2014 teaser for Chrisley Knows Best, Todd said the family “sometimes spend $300,000 or more, just on clothing” in a single year. So, yes, they’re obsessed, which is why we caught up with both Savannah and Todd Chrisley over the phone to get all the details on the line.

One of the things they revealed is that as soon as fans found out she was designing a collection — which will debut on HSN in late spring or early summer 2017 — they submitted suggestions to Savannah via Facebook and Twitter. Their feedback helped her prioritize getting a range of sizes incorporated into the line. “We want clothes that are going to fit every woman,” Savannah tells PEOPLE.

So what else will this line bring? Lots of conservative pieces with a dash of distressed denim, for starters. Scroll down to get all the details, straight from Todd and Savannah themselves.

What inspired you to create a collection?Savannah: “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve seen so many young girls dressing in ways that make you want to say, ‘Wow.’ I want to be able to be a positive role model to girls and show them that you can look cute and you can look fashionable, while also being covered. You can risk things at times, but sometimes girls go a little overboard. I think that’s a big problem in today’s society is everyone wanting to be like someone else. And I just think girls should be yourself. I think that’s my mission: Just create something that parents are going to want to love to buy for their daughters and that parents can even wear themselves if they wanted to.”

Why did you bring your dad with you to the meeting in New York?S: “All my friends have their moms going shopping with them. Me, I take my dad. My dad and I will turn our phones off for the day, go shop, just have a peaceful day. So he has really been my true inspiration whenever it came to creating my own fashion line.”

Todd, what is your level of involvement?Todd: “You know, this is Savannah’s line and it’s something that she wanted to do and I was very excited when she came to me and said, ‘Dad, I want my own clothing line.’ Because listen, every celebrity wants to attach their name to something and I don’t want our family doing that unless there’s true passion behind it. And Savannah said, ‘Because Daddy, I want to show young girls that you don’t have to show all your business in order to be cute. You don’t have to have everything on the front porch for everyone to see.’”

So you liked her approach of creating more conservative clothes?T: “It reiterated how we had brought her up. I wanted this line that Savannah was doing to go back to 1986 when you still had a little bit of edge to you and you wanted to be a little bit rebellious but you didn’t have everything hanging out. And guys still looked at girls and said, ‘Wow she’s hot,’ without seeing everything before they took her to dinner.”

What are some of your favorite pieces in the line?S: “The distressed denim because that is what I am into at the moment. And we’re working on a few jackets. I am incorporating some leather and things like that so I like the little, you know more rock n’ roll vibe at the moment. It’s the place I am at in life but we’re still working on it right now and things are coming together great.”

How is Giuliana Rancic involved in the project?T: “Giuliana is a very good friend of ours. I contacted Giuliana because I wanted Savannah with someone that I trusted. And so Giuliana when I went and had dinner with her in Chicago she said Savannah is perfect for this because she has such a clean, wholesome image. She was so kind because she kind of spearheaded this from day one and she got us in there and got us started with it. Giuliana has nothing to do with the design of it. It is Savannah’s line. Savannah and I collaborate on this as a group but it’s Savannah’s line. It’s what she feels is best for young girls today.”

Why did you decide to call it Southern Charm?S: “It all goes back to just where I am from. Obviously, we’re from the South. You can tell it in my accent. There’s just something charming about the South, so I wanted to just show who I am. It’s gonna be the old Southern just class to it while also funky charm. It’s not Savannah Chrisley, it’s just a name that represents everything that’s gonna be in the line.”

The last Southern-inspired line that launched was Reese Witherspoon’s. How is this different?S: “I think I am taking a way different approach than that. Her store is in Nashville so I have been in it. It’s a great store. But for me, my personality, I just like to take a few more risks. I feel like she reaches towards an older audience and I want to have stuff that’s for every age group because I don’t want anyone to feel like that they can’t look good in the clothes I am designing or they can’t feel good in the clothes I am designing. So therefore I am gonna have things that you can transform. Older women can wear it differently than younger women. I don’t want anyone to ever feel limited.”

T: “Savannah differs with Reese in that Reese is targeting a little bit more mature audience than what Savannah is. I think where I come into it, I look at women from 30 to 50 I mean, because I am 48 and I know what I think a women looks good in in those age groups. So Savannah is targeting her millennials and then taking the advice from me from where I am and saying, ‘But Savannah, a 40-year-old woman could wear that if she wore it this way.’ So I think that that’s where this line is gonna be a little bit different.

How is it working together?S: “We love making decisions and to be able to get to do that together I am extremely blessed. In this industry, it’s hard to find someone who’s gonna be in something truly for you and luckily he is truly in it for me. I got someone that I can trust so it’s honestly it could not be better.”

T: “It’s a blessing to be able to work with your child and see them growing and see them taking some of what they have been brought up with, some of those core values to apply it to business. I’ve made that mark. I’m 48, so now the satisfaction comes from watching my children make their mark. So if I can stand behind the curtain and let my child shine, that’s what I want to do.”

Savannah, where does this confidence come from?S: “Growing up, I was always made to feel like I was the most beautiful person in the world. And I feel like whenever you’re raised with people constantly telling you that, it allows you to be more confident you know the older you get.”

Chrisley Knows Best airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on USA Network. The show’s fourth season finales on November 11 with two back-to-back episodes.
