Sask. drivers continue to use cellphones behind the wheel

Saskatchewan drivers continue to use their cellphones while driving, according to the latest information from the government's insurance agency.

SGI says police across the province issued 246 tickets last month for using a cellphone while driving, as well as 151 tickets for driving without due care and attention.

In addition to the tickets for distracted driving, police issued 6,576 speeding tickets, and they laid 373 impaired driving charges.

Police were focused on distracted driving in October.

In November, they are focused on safe winter driving, and will be looking for people driving too fast for road conditions.
