Sarah Hyland cut quite the classic figure at the 2016 InStyle Awards inside L.A.'s Getty Center on Monday night.

For the occasion, the Modern Family star turned to Carolina Herrera for a sleeveless navy and black frock that embodied the ultimate lady-like ensemble. "I just love the colors together," she told InStyle of the inspiration behind her A-plus look. "I love a good baby blue and black moment. And it felt very Audrey Hepburn to me, and I just wanted to feel very classy and comfortable tonight."

As a whole, Hyland was complete class and even served up her signature comedic wit at the evening. We asked the star about her least "in style" moment, and she answered masterfully.

While it's rare to witness a misstep from her on the red carpet, even Hollywood's finest often make mistakes.

"I wear faux pas all the time. I mix patterns that you should never mix together. It's especially on laundry days," she said.

"Every woman has a pair of granny panties in their drawer," she continued. I know you do. I know you do, I do too."
