Sarah Ferguson Says She Didn't Feel 'Worthy' Of Attending Prince William And Kate Middleton's Wedding

Sarah Ferguson has no hard feelings about not being invited to Prince William and Duchess Kate's 2011 royal wedding.

In a new interview with Town & Country, the Duchess of York looked back at the famous nuptials, which came amid a tumultuous time for her in the press. (The year prior, the duchess found herself in the middle of a tabloid stunt regarding access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew.) The Duke of York and their two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, both attended William and Kate's wedding, however.

'I didn't think I was probably worthy to go to their wedding,' Ferguson told the publication, reflecting on her position within the institution a decade ago. 'I took myself to Thailand, actually, to be far away from it so that I could try and heal.'

Ferguson appeared to be in better graces with the royal family come 2018, when she attended Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's wedding. Although she declined to comment on her thoughts about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's landmark decision to leave royal life behind, she did offer insight into how Diana might feel if she were still with us.

'I believe that Diana would be so proud of her boys … and she'd be so proud of her grandchildren,' the duchess said. Ferguson previously shared a similar sentiment with People magazine, expressing that the late Princess of Wales would have absolutely approved of both Duchesses Meghan and Catherine.

'If she were sitting with me right now, I know she would say, "I am so proud of both of my boys and the wonderful wives they have chosen,"' Ferguson said about the duchesses. 'Because each has got her own voice.'
