Samsung (005930) may have plans to undercut its software supplier Google (GOOG) with a new 7-inch tablet that will launch this year starting at just $149. Without citing any sources, Digitimes on Wednesday reported that Samsung has plans to launch several new tablets and ultrabooks in 2013. Among the expected devices are the 8-inch tablet Samsung confirmed earlier this week and a new 10.1-inch model as well. Samsung also has plans to launch a new 7-inch tablet according to the report, and it may undercut Google’s $199 Nexus 7 with a price tag starting as low as $149. Digitimes says Samsung is aiming to ship 40 million tablets in 2013, a figure that would represent remarkable growth over the estimated 15 million slates Samsung sold into channels in 2012.
