Rupert Grint has a very good reason as to why he almost quit acting after “Harry Potter”

Like most of his Harry Potter costars, Rupert Grint has had a successful post-Potter acting career, starring appearing in films like Into the White and Moonwalkers. However, he almost quit acting after Harry Potter ended.

In the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly, the actor, who played beloved Harry Potter sidekick Ron Weasley for all eight films revealed that as Harry Potter came to an end, he struggled to decide whether or not to keep acting. Grint, who is starring in Crackle series Snatch, spoke with the magazine about what it was like to grow up on Harry Potter set and how he needed some away from the spotlight after the films wrapped.

“We had such an intimate and intense few years in this bubble,” he explaied. “When I started, [acting] was never something that I aspired to do. I did acting with school plays and stuff like that. But it was never something that I actively dreamed of.”

“I mean, I fell in love with it while I was doing it. But I definitely did think, ‘Is this really what I want to do?’ I wanted to live a little bit. I felt like I’d missed out on a lot. Being in that adult environment from such an early age, it was nice to just be away from it and not have any kind of commitments at all, and just be a bit free.”

We totally understand Grint feeling like he needed some space from fame but we’re so glad he’s kept acting.

The Harry Potter cast has been making headlines recently after it was revealed that the cast has a WhatsApp group chat. Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) spilled the beans after sharing that Emma Watson had invited her former costars to the premiere of Beauty and the Beast. Watson also confirmed the chat’s existence and now Grint is opening up on how the group chat helps them all stay in touch.

“It’s kind of the way we stay in contact. We see each other occasionally, but I haven’t seen everyone in a long time. It’s quite hard to socially see everyone, so being in the same room with everybody is usually quite surreal and not that easy,” Grint said. “We shared such a unique experience and such a strange childhood. We’ll always kind of have that together. Again, we’re always gonna be there for each other, [and] support each other.”

While we’re incredibly jealous we’re not in the group chat, we love hearing that they all still love and support each other!
