Yahoo Finance Royal Fans React To Queen’s New Hairstyle, After Close Advisor Angela Kelly Shared Details Behind Her Look
After keeping a low profile for almost two weeks, the Queen was pictured as she was awarded the Canterbury Cross from the Archbishop of Canterbury, while at her Windsor Castle home.
But it was Her Majesty's hairstyle that got royal fans talking, after photos of the exchange was uploaded to the royal family's official Instagram account.
In the images, the 96-year-old monarch can be seen with her silver locks freshly trimmed down at the sides and back, and despite wearing a vibrant floral dress, it was her new hair that dominated conversation.
A fan wrote: 'Ohh… she's had a hairy,' while another commented: 'She changed her hair, so sweet.'
Another remarked: 'Did Her Majesty get a haircut?' which a further fan echoed when writing: 'Oh I can see her new hairstyle, it's shorter than usual.'
As for what brought on the Queen's change of hair, it could be down to her trusted stylist, Angela Kelly, who previously shared that she was tasked with cutting Her Majesty's hair during lockdown.
The Queen's new hairstyle comes after news surfaced that Kelly, who spent much of lockdown with the monarch and Prince Philip at Windsor Castle, is behind a revealing revised edition of book The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser And The Wardrobe.
Believed to be approved by the Queen herself, it will reportedly reveal how the Queen coped during the pandemic and after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, while also including light-hearted details about working on the royal's image.
At the time of learning about the revised book, it was reported that it will specifically disclose that Kelly, who lives in the grounds of Windsor Castle, was called upon to cut the Queen's hair when usual protocol wasn't possible.
Katya Shipster, publishing director of Harper Non-Fiction, said: 'It tells the story of the royal bubble as well as the lengths Angela and the royal household went to, to ensure the safety of the monarch.
In addition, the book will supposedly share behind-the-scenes tricks used for the longest-reigning monarch's clothing, such as the extra lining to cushion the impact of beading and crystals on the Queen's back for events requiring extravagant gowns.
It's also expected to highlight that Kelly often had to wear the monarch's handmade shoes to ensure they were broken in.
In 2007, Kelly said in a rare interview with The Telegraph: 'I don't know why the Queen seems fond of me - because I don't give her an easy time!
'I do think she values my opinion, but she is the one who is in control. She always makes the final decision.'
She added: 'We are two typical women. We discuss clothes, make-up, jewellery.
'We say, 'Would this piece of jewellery look nice with that outfit?', and things like that.'
