Rosie O’Donnell Lists Waterfront Retreat in West Palm Beach (EXCLUSIVE)

SELLER: Rosie O’Donnell
LOCATION: West Palm Beach, FL
PRICE: $6,050,000
SIZE: (approx.) 5,700 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms plus guesthouse/staff quarters

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Though she only bought not even 1.5 years ago, Rosie O’Donnell hoisted her waterfront getaway in West Palm Beach, FL, up for sale with an asking price of $6,050,000. The fearlessly and famously outspoken and occasionally controversial former chat show host, actress and comedian — she recently apologized via Twitter for suggesting that president-elect Donald Trump’s youngest son Barron has autism — paid $4.975 million for the property in July 2015. The fully furnished but only just barely decorated residence, two-story affair of no particular architectural vernacular or gravitas that sits behind a riot of tropical foliage on two gated lots that together span 1.02 acres, measures in at approximately 5,700-square-feet with six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. A separate and self-contained guesthouse that is equally suitable for a live-in domestic worker adds a combination lounge/kitchen plus another bedroom with en suite bathroom.

A courtyard between a pair of two-car garages leads to leaded glass doors that open directly in to a capacious double-height living room with reclaimed brick fireplace and a towering wall of windows and French doors that look out the glistening Intracoastal Waterway. Just off the living room the dining room occupies a circular, window-lined bay that is completely open to a roomy and well-stocked kitchen with a huge center island the shaped of a bent barbell. Beyond the kitchen a family room area opens to an expansive side yard and includes a full wall of built-in bookshelves. Two of the five upstairs bedrooms share a water-side veranda while two others — both furnished with two-sets of bunk beds to comfortably accommodate Miz O’Donnell’s five children and their visiting pals — both open to a water-view sun porch. A fifth bedroom on the upper floor is furnished as a den/lounge while the main floor master suite, with fireplace and unwisely chosen light mint-colored wall-to-wall carpeting, has two sets of French doors that open to one of the two loggias along the back of the house. The sprawling suite additionally includes two walk-in closets with lighted shoe shelves, a massage room, and a huge bathroom with freestanding soaking tub, multi-head shower and televisions installed behind the mirrors over the twin vanities.

One of the two large loggias along the back of the house has an outdoor fireplace and the other has an outdoor kitchen. The stone-paved loggias step down to a heated cobalt blue swimming pool as well as a vast expanse of lawn and a built-in fire pit encircled by eight blue Adirondack chairs. The completely bulk headed property, which has 178-feet of water frontage, has a desirable deep-water dock with boatlift.

Having previously owned homes in Chicago, New York City and several Florida locales including Miami-Beach’s super-swank Star Island where she sold a mansion in June 2013 for $16.5 million, the veteran chat show host and actress, who regularly appears on the Alec Baldwin hosted game show “Match Game,” is certainly no stranger to property gossip columns. As far as we can tell she continues to own a five-residence compound on the shore of the Hudson River in Nyack, NY, that she bought in a handful of transactions between May of 2001 and January 2008 for a total outlay of $8.605 million as well as a sprawling house on 5.65-acres in Saddle River, NJ, that she scooped up in October 2013 for $6.375 million and currently has on the market at $6.495 million, down from its original asking price of $6.975 million.
