This Is The Real Story Of How Martha Stewart And Snoop Dogg Became BFFs

I often wonder about celebrity friendships (are they real? How real are they?), but the dynamic duo that is Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg may be the realest. The two are such good friends that they've hosted events together, collaborated on TV shows, and are constantly praising one another in interviews. But how exactly did the pair become so close? Let's investigate.

In 2008, Martha and Snoop met for the first time when Snoop appeared as a guest on The Martha Stewart Show. During the appearance, Martha taught Snoop how to make her mashed potatoes, and later, Snoop said this moment was when Martha helped rappers become a part of daytime television.

A year later, Snoop joined Martha on her show once again but this time they made brownies during the 2009 appearance. While mixing the ingredients and baking them, Snoop made several comments alluding to marijuana and Martha replied saying that they add the "stuff" later after Snoop's jokes. At this point, their energy as two new friends was undeniable. It would then be years before their next on-screen meeting, but in 2014, Martha admitted during a Reddit AMA that she wished she were closer friends with Snoop.

The pair reunited in 2015 while attending Comedy Central's roast of Justin Bieber. At the event, the two sat next to each other on stage. Later, in an NBC interview, Snoop would say that was the moment he knew their friendship was real: "I knew I wanted to be alongside this lady for the rest of my life," Snoop told Henry Smith in 2019.

It was then only a matter of time before the unlikely friends partnered up for projects, their first being Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, which aired on VH1 in 2016. After its premiere, the show was nominated for a 2017 Emmy and has had three full seasons with celebrity guests like Matthew McConaughey and Usher. In 2018, Snoop published his first cookbook (From Crook to Cook) with an included foreword by Martha.

Ever since they reconnected back in 2015, Martha and Snoop have gotten even closer and have worked together on more projects. In 2021, the two hosted the Puppy Bowl and showed viewers how to make tailgating snacks, so here's hoping they'll be providing us with wholesome bestie content for years to come.
