Raptors announce 4 more players including OG, VanVleet join COVID-19 protocol

The Toronto Raptors have entered four additional players into the NBA's COVID-19 protocol, the team announced Tuesday evening.

Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby, Pat McCaw, and Malachi Flynn will join Pascal Siakam in health and safety protocols, and all five players will miss the Raptors' next game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. The Raptors will also be without head coach Nick Nurse, and five additional staffers.

The Raptors will be led by assistant coach Sergio Scariolo, who oversaw the Raptors' win over the Houston Rockets last week.

It's unclear how many members of the organization have tested positive, but Michael Grange of Sportsnet reports that there is at least one coach who tested positive last week. Siakam also had an inconclusive test result. The Raptors have declined to provide any official details on any cases, citing privacy concerns.

Toronto was slated to play the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, but that game was postponed as the Raptors did not have the requisite of eight available players. Their game against the Pistons was also rescheduled from Tuesday to Wednesday. The Raptors will play the Boston Celtics on Thursday before pausing for the All-Star break that carries through until March 11.

In a corresponding move, the Raptors have called up Jalen Harris and Donta Hall from the Raptors 905 to supplement their roster. Hall was signed to a 10-day contract last week, while the 59th pick in Harris has missed the last two weeks due to a dislocated thumb.
