We Rank the Most Expensive Homes in College Football’s Top 10 Cities

Most expensive house in Norman Oklahoma, Michgan Stadium, most expensive home in Ann Arbor, University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium

Last year, we introduced our inaugural look at the most expensive homes in college football’s top 10 cities. Now, with another season (finally) ready to kick off, we couldn’t help but storm the field again.

Using the same exact methodology, we took the top 10 teams from the AP preseason poll and found the priciest home in each college city. Our results show the perennially top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide losing ground in this battle. In our rankings, Tuscaloosa finished fifth thanks to a $5.2 million mansion. However, the Tide fared better than the second-ranked Clemson Tigers, who slid all the way to 10th in our polling with a $1.5 million home.

The top college city in terms of expensive real estate? It shouldn’t be a surprise: Silicon Valley hub Palo Alto wins the pricey prize. Coming in at a lofty $17.5 million, the city’s most expensive listing is a relatively modest five-bedroom home measuring a little over 5,000 square feet. At least a buyer won’t have to spend money on parking at Stanford Stadium—the home is within walking distance to where the Cardinals play.

10. Clemson
217 Strawberry Ln, Clemson, SC
Price: $1,500,000
Scouting report: Less than a mile away from Memorial Stadium, this lakefront property is within walking distance of a Tiger tailgate party. Plus, the four-bedroom home on Lake Hartwell comes with a boathouse and dock. And if you’re an investor, the 1-acre property can be divided into three lots that can be developed.

9. Notre Dame
52450 Lilac Rd, South Bend, IN
Price: $2,000,000
Scouting report: A sleeper pick? With football season nearly upon us, the price on this enormous (10,974 square feet) mansion was just reduced by $200,000. If you have out-of-town alums coming by to cheer on the Fighting Irish, they can stay in the two-bedroom guesthouse. Located right along the St. Joseph River, the estate is about a 15-minute drive from the stadium.

8. Oklahoma
4340 Covington Way, Norman, OK
Price: $3,495,000
Scouting report: Built in 2010, this five-bedroom mansion has been a free agent since March 2013. After a couple of price cuts over the years, it’s still waiting for a Sooner buyer. And if a buyer is in a dealing mood, the listing description says the seller will consider a trade. If it were us, we’d throw in a future draft pick for a shot at the gorgeous outdoor living room.

7. LSU
19523 N Muirfield Cir, Baton Rouge, LA
Price: $4,000,000
Scouting report: This beautiful Bayou mansion was owned by the late entrepreneur (and LSU donor) T.J. Moran. Besides getting the chance to live in luxury, the eventual buyer will also be committing an act of charity. Net proceeds from the sale of the home will go to the T.J. Moran Family Foundation.

6. Ohio State
212 Park Dr, Columbus, OH
Price: $5,000,000
Scouting report: Last season, the Buckeyes were represented by a $3.49 million estate (still on the market, now for $3 million), but Columbus has upped the ante this year. Built in 1942, this Georgian-style mansion was fully renovated over a three-year period beginning in 1998. The result? A winning blend of old-world charm and modern conveniences.

5. Alabama
2731 Battlement Dr NE, Tuscaloosa, AL
Price: $5,200,000
Scouting report: In a tribute to the dominant college football squad, this mansion crushed the local competition. Given its win in last season’s National Championship game, it wasn’t surprising to see the Crimson Tide atop the polls to begin the 2016 season. However, it is a surprise to find a $5.2 million home in Tuscaloosa. The city’s second-place finisher is listed for a relatively meager $1,875,000. And this four-bedroom estate takes its cues from an unlikely source: Normandy. A Norman-style mansion in west central Alabama? Even Nick Saban might crack a hint of a smile at this unlikely pairing.

4. Florida State
3677 Phipps Point Rd, Tallahassee, FL
Price: $5,690,000
Scouting report: We have a repeat offender! Last year, this same home ranked second on our list while repping the Seminoles squad. Still owned by motocross legend Ricky Carmichael, the Florida mansion had its price cut by about $500,000 in March.

3. Tennessee
3208 Lobetti Rd, Knoxville, TN
Price: $6,900,000
Scouting report: Neyland Stadium is noted for its capacity—it can hold 102,000 fans of the Volunteers. This ranch can’t hold quite that many people, but it’s close. Known as Jubilee Farms, the home on the 55-acre spread boasts a whopping 16 bedrooms. Marketed as a corporate retreat, church, or assisted-living facility, it would make one heck of a place to party before heading to the stadium.

2. Michigan
660 Barton Shore Dr, Ann Arbor, MI
Price: $6,950,000
Scouting report: A five-star recruit! Any fan of the Maize and Blue would be happy to call this cool contemporary home, which sits right on Barton Pond. Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, the mansion is a half-circle of swooping curves and beautiful views.

1. Stanford
1701 Bryant St, Palo Alto, CA
Price: $17,498,000
Scouting report: Palo Alto consistently ranks among the country’s priciest cities, so it isn’t a shock to see the town trounce the competition when it comes to real estate. Just a deep pass route away from Stanford Stadium, this fully restored five-bedroom home has been on the market for a couple of months. And with a price of $3,283 per square foot, there’s no contest for college football’s crown. Cue the marching band!
