Rams superstar Aaron Donald was in tears on sideline at end of playoff loss

All of Aaron Donald’s awards, money and accolades clearly doesn’t make up for the lack of a Super Bowl ring.

Donald, the best defensive player in the NFL, played in Saturday’s playoff game through a rib injury that clearly affected him. Donald came out more often than usual and finished with just one assisted tackle, one of the quietest stat lines you’ll ever see him put up. He was a non-factor.

In the final moments of Saturday’s game, when it was clear the Green Bay Packers would beat Donald’s Los Angeles Rams and advance to the NFC championship game, Donald couldn’t hide his emotions.

Aaron Donald moved to tears at end of loss

Donald’s tears were indicative of a player who gave everything he had through an injury, but it just led to the end of a playoff run.

Donald is well on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He has a six-year, $135 million contract. But as a competitor, coming up short of a championship clearly hurt. Donald lost the only time he made a Super Bowl, to the New England Patriots.

There will be other chances for Donald to make a deep playoff run. But every chance is special, and it clearly hit him hard when the Rams’ season ended with a loss in Green Bay.
