After various missed royal engagements, Queen Elizabeth II is out again—this time in Scotland.

The monarch, 96, traveled overnight by Royal Train to Edinburgh, where she will be for the next few days carrying out engagements with other members of the royal family. She will stay at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, her official residence in the Scottish capital.

This morning, the queen attended the Ceremony of the Keys, where she was handed the keys of the city of Edinburgh and welcomed into Scotland. She was joined by son Prince Edward and his stylish wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

On the outing, the queen wore a pale blue tweed coat over a floral white, blue, and purple dress, and accessorized with a matching pale blue hat with a bright blue flower appliqué, and her classic layered pearl necklace and pearl earrings.

The queen—who walked with her cane due to her ongoing mobility issues—was comfortable in low black heels, and she carried a black bag. She was pictured smiling while holding a bouquet of fresh flowers.

The event marked the queen's first public appearance since her Platinum Jubilee celebrations earlier this month. The monarch was noticeably absent from the five-day Royal Ascot, the glamorous British horse racing event she has been known to cherish.

Among her various engagements this week, the queen will attend a garden party with royal family members, honor various Scottish figures at a ceremony, and likely hold an audience with Nicola Sturgeon, the first minister of Scotland.
