Promo for Drew Barrymore's new daytime show features interview with her younger self, and it's 'magic'

Drew Barrymore is making viewers see double in a promo for her new daytime show "The Drew Barrymore Show," with an interesting interview guest: herself?

The one-hour daytime show, which is set to premiere Sept. 14, will bring "information, inspiration, and entertainment to the daytime audience this fall," according to a CBS Television Distribution press release. Check local listings for time and network information.

As a host, the "Santa Clarita Diet" actress aims to "elevate, inspire and entertain in every area and in every segment from human interest stories to happy news to lifestyle segments and celebrity guests," the release says.

The brief promo video, which includes the present-day actress interviewing her 7-year-old self, harkens back 38 years to her 1982 appearance on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" after starring in "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial."

"As I continue to practice interviewing others, I couldn’t help but look back at myself at age 7 in the hot seat on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson!" she wrote on Instagram on Thursday. "PS... shooting this clip was so fun and a little emotional as my own 7 year old daughter Olive sat in as my 7 year old self. So, I am actually speaking to her too."

"It’s been a wild ride. Can you believe I have two daughters your age?" Barrymore, 45, says from Johnny Carson's hosting seat, referring to her 6- and 7-year-old children, Frankie and Olive. Little Drew scrunches her face and smiles, responding with "that's kinda scary."

The older Barrymore is just as excited as her mini me when she tells her 7-year-old she's "going to spend an hour every day celebrating life" on her her new daytime talk show.

The two conclude the clip with excited screams as the audience cheers.

We're not the only ones loving this nostalgia. Celebrities responded to Barrymore's adorable clip on Instagram Thursday. Late-night television host Jimmy Fallon commented that "this is the best thing I've ever seen," while "Today" show anchor Savannah Guthrie called it "magic."
