Prince William and Duchess Kate step out together in Scotland

Pretty in plaid!

On Tuesday morning, Prince William and Duchess Kate kicked off a day of royal engagements in Dundee, Scotland. To start their morning, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the new Victoria and Albert Museum, which officially opens Tuesday afternoon. They also greeted fans along the waterfront, collecting bouquets and chatting with well-wishers.

For the occasion, Kate wore a navy and green tartan coat dress from Alexander McQueen -- royal fans will remember that the designer was also behind her iconic 2011 wedding dress. She paired the coat with black tights, black heels and a forest green purse, and she later bundled up with a green scarf. William looked sharp by her side in a tailored suit, white shirt and red tie.

The duchess, a patron of the museum, also spoke at the opening, expressing her hopes for the museum's future:

According to Kensington Palace, the parents-of-three will also be meeting with employees from the Michelin factory at the Crescent Community Center in Dundee to hear first-hand "how they have been affected by the news that tyre production is to cease on the site."
