Yahoo Finance Porsche 962C Race Car Worth $1.2 Million Suffers Heavy Crash at Spa

The Auto Addiction YouTube channel was on the scene at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium during a recent event when it filmed a Porsche 962C from the Eighties losing control and crashing into the barriers, causing heavy damage to the front end. The driver did not suffer any serious injuries, according to the YouTube video's description.
The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this time, but the low-speed incident, which occurred after Spa's final left-hand turn before the start-finish straight, began when the driver lost control and spun to the right, striking the wall. Most of the body and suspension pieces forward the cabin were ripped off, and the windshield was knocked out of its frame.
The driver, whose identity is unknown, can be seen walking around the crash area and collecting pieces of the car. We suspect they escaped serious injury due to the lack of speed being carried at the time of the crash. While the 962 is safer than the earlier 956 it's based on, it's still a far cry from the safety-cell-equipped chassis designs you see in modern prototypes. Racing driver Stefan Bellof was tragically killed in a crash while behind the wheel of a 962C during the 1985 1000 km of Spa.
It's unclear at this time what will happen to this wrecked 962C, though considering its value, we suspect it'll be rebuilt and back to racing in no time.
