The New Pop-Up at Barneys New York Brings a Sense of High Fashion to Home Décor
New York–based interior designer Kelly Behun has joined forces with Barneys New York to create a standalone pop-up shop and a new online-only capsule collection. Called A Kook Milieu, the shop was inspired by Holly Solomon, an advocate of the Pattern and Decoration Movement in the 1970s and ’80s. More than 40 new pieces from Behun’s furniture and decor line (including textiles, rugs, and furniture) will be showcased alongside items created exclusively for the store.
Custom cashmere throws, laser-etched suede pillows, wood marquetry trays, tabletop centerpieces, and stone-mosaic dining tables are just a few of the items available for purchase. In addition, Behun will debut a rug collaboration created with the help of handmade carpet specialist Tai Ping. A curated selection of ceramics, sculptures, and other design pieces by some of Behun’s favorite emerging artists will also be on display. But there is no time to waste; the pop-up will only stick around from September 8 to October 31. (kellybehun.com; barneys.com)
