Wood Buffalo RCMP have charged four people following a drug trafficking investigation in Fort McMurray.

Police confirmed on July 27 that on July 23, officers searched a downtown residence and found suspected methamphetamine, cash and items allegedly used in drug trafficking.

Officers also found a firearm and ammunition, but police did not confirm what type of weapon or ammunition was allegedly found inside the residence. Four people in the home were arrested.

Officers have charged Fort McMurray residents Amy L Budden, 43; Monty Ian John Faichney, 24; and Darryl Bruce Robert Grandjambe, 27. Shaina Leigh Faichney, 26, of Fort McKay has also been charged.

The four people are charged with two counts of possessing a weapon dangerous to the public, and one count each of possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a firearm without a license, possessing a firearm with readily accessible ammunition and careless storage of a firearm.

Budden and Monty face additional charges of proceeds of crime under $5,000. Budden has also charged with one count of possessing a prohibited weapon, while Monty faces two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Grandjambe is charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order and one count of failing to comply with a probation order. Shaina has also been charged with failing to comply with a release order.

Budden and Shaina were released following a July 23 judicial hearing. Budden is scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on Aug. 24, while Shaina will appear on Aug. 10. Grandjambe and Monty’s first court appearance was Tuesday.
