Pogue's Basics: Google Maps one hand zoom

OK, you’re in a new city, trying to navigate, letting the Google Maps app guide you on your phone.

In situations like these, it sure would be nice to be able to zoom in and out with one hand, leaving your other hand free to hold an ice-cream cone, fumble with your wallet, push passersby out of the way, etc.

Turns out, you can. Double-tap the Maps screen — and, on the second tap, drag your finger up (to zoom in) or down (to zoom out). One-handed zooming, yours free.
