Photos: Hong Kong’s overwhelming urban density—captured from a drone

Plenty to take in.

Photographer Andy Yeung takes drone photos to capture the beauty of one of the world’s most densely populated cities: Hong Kong.

Taken from a bird’s-eye view, his latest photo series, “Urban Fog,” captures the city’s iconic skyline on foggy nights, when it looks like a dreamland of sorts. And in his “Urban Jungle” series, he focuses on the colors and vertigo-inducing heights of the hectic Sheung Wan, Wan Chai, and Sham Shui Po districts.

Based in Hong Kong, Yeung first picked up a camera in 2005. He focuses on landscape, architecture, and travel photography. His drone-based shots above the city have received international media attention. Some of the highlights follow.

Of course, these photos focus on Hong Kong’s concrete canyons. As any serious explorer of the place knows, hiking trails, hang-gliding spots, and picture-perfect beaches are all a taxi ride away.
