Philly named best city for trick-or-treating

Philadelphia kids can apparently look forward to the best candy hauls in the nation this Halloween.

Philadelphia kids can apparently look forward to the best candy hauls among cities in the nation this Halloween.

The real estate company Zillow on Wednesday released its list of the country's best cities for trick-or-treaters, and Philadelphia was at the top.

Zillow said it analyzed home values, housing density, population age and crime to find "where kids can get the best and most candy in the shortest amount of time, and have other kids to trick-or-treat with."

Philadelphia — where the front stoop can be called a city institution any time of year, not just on Halloween — ranked first, with San Jose, San Francisco, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Portland and Seattle rounding out the top 10.

Philadelphia's ranking was boosted by its density of single-family homes, Zillow said.

The company called the city's Cobbs Creek, Frankford, Logan, East Germantown and Fairmount sections the best neighborhoods for trick-or-treaters. (Crime rates were factored into the Halloween rankings, but several of those neighborhoods are among the most violent in the city.)
