S&P closes over 1,500 for first time since December 2007: Nokia Corp., Intel Corp., Cereplast Inc., Echo Automotive Inc., USA Graphite Inc

The S&P 500 experienced its longest winning streak since 2004 on Friday. The index rose 8.14 points to 1,502.96 on Friday making it the eighth straight gain.The Dow Jones closed the day on Friday up 70.65 points and the Nasdaq composite closed with a gain of 19.33 points.Netflix Inc. continued its rally for a fourth day and closed on Friday up $22.70 while Apple Inc. continued its decline to close in the red down $10.62.

Nokia Corp. (NYSE:NOK - News) – A new report has said that Nokia Corp. is readying a flagship smart phone for Verizon. With a codename Laser, the device will “be a variant” of Nokia’s Lumia 920.The Company sold about 700,000 handsets in North America in the holiday quarter, compared to the tens of millions of iPhones and Android handsets sold in the period.The stock has been trading steady over $4.00 for all of January. Volume on Friday was slight above average at 85,950,408. The stock’s volume the day prior was 162,803,900, almost three times higher than average volume which is 61, 080,000.

Intel Corp. (Nasdaq:INTC - News) – Intel Corp.’s volume traded on Friday hit 107,632,730, which is more than double the stock’s average volume of 50,114,600. Earlier this month, Intel reported full year revenue of $53.3 billion, and a net income of $11 billion. For the fourth quarter, Intel posted revenue of $13.5 billion, operating income of $3.2 billion, net income of $2.5 billion and EPS of 48 cents. The Company’s President noted that the fourth quarter played out as they had expected.On January 22nd, Intel’s President and CEO bought 94,518 shares of the Company while the Company’s Exec VP, COO sold 1,691 shares the same day.

Cereplast Inc. (OTC:CERP - News) – CERP has been experiencing a surge in volume in the past week with Friday’s volume being no different closing at 40,810,870 shares traded compared to an average volume of 5,702,250. The stock closed up roughly 28% on Friday. The Company announced $500,000 in new revenue and provided a 2013 outlook on January 23. Just three months ago CERP was trading over 20 cents. Cereplast, Inc. develops and commercializes bio-based resins primarily in Italy, Germany, Malta, North America, and internationally.

Echo Automotive Inc. (OTCBB:ECAU - News) – ECAU hit a new 52-week high on Friday when it reached $1.88 a share. On Thursday the stock closed at its high of the day with gains of 32%. On Friday the rally continued and ECAU was up a total of 75% at the day’s intra-day high since Wednesday’s close of $1.07. At the beginning of the month on January 3rd, ECAU shares were as low as $0.72. Echo Automotive Inc. is a developer of technologies enabling the cost effective conversion of existing fleet vehicles into fuel efficient hybrids. The company announced on Thursday that a demonstration of their EchoDrive ™ will be showcased at America’s largest work truck show on March 6-8, 2013.

USA Graphite Inc. (OTCBB:USGT - News) – USGT has been a leader in volume in the OTCBB arena for a while now. The Company is focused on the acquisition, exploration and development of world class graphite properties in North America. USGT signed a letter of intent to acquire the Ruby Mountains Graphite Property which has been identified by the Company as a high priority area for flake graphite. The stock hit $0.965 earlier this month compared to $0.31 on December 3rd.On Friday the stock closed at $0.69.
