Last summer Netflix confirmed some good and bad Ozark news. The good news was that a new season of Ozark had been commissioned, but the not so good news was that the streaming platform also confirmed it will be the final season.

Here's everything else you need to know about the fourth series of Netflix's Ozark, from possible release date to potential story lines.

When will Ozark season 4 be released?

in mid-October 2021, Netflix revealed the first part of the final season will drop at the beginning of 2022. Along with a video sharing the news, the announcement read, "There's no turning back. Ozark Season 4 Part 1 premieres January 21, 2022."

Season one came out in July 2017, followed by season two in August 2018. Season three wasn't launched until March 2020. Fans initially assumed the fourth season would drop in late 2021, so they weren't too far off.

Something to look forward to, eh?

Has Ozark season 4 been confirmed?

In June 2020, Netflix confirmed that Marty and Wendy Byrde will be back for a fourth season, and that it will mark the end of the series. Season four will be split across two parts, with seven episodes in each part.

"We’re so happy Netflix recognised the importance of giving Ozark more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right," showrunner Chris Mundy said in a statement. "It’s been such a great adventure for all of us - both on screen and off - so we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible."

While Jason Bateman added: "A supersized season means super sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”

Mundy previously said that Ozark should run for five seasons, so some fans are understandably disappointed they've decided to end it after season four. "We’ve always talked about it as five seasons," he previously said during a panel discussion with the Hollywood Reporter. "It could be four, it could be seven… but that always seemed like a good number to us."

And although he didn’t yet have a specific overall ending in mind, he explained: “We’re building little things in, if we keep on track for the emotional ending we’re guessing we’ll have.”

Who will star in Ozark season 4?

The main cast members will all be returning. So that's Laura Linney and Jason Bateman back in the lead roles as Wendy and Marty. Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Joseph Sikora, Charlie Tahan, Jessica Frances Dukes, Lisa Emery and John Bedford Lloyd will also be back.

In November, Netflix announced that Bruno Bichir, CC Castillo, and Katrina Lenk will also join the fourth season in recurring roles, while Alfonso Herrera, Adam Rothenberg, Felix Solis, and Damian Young will join the cast as series regulars.

At the end of February, Deadline reported X-Men star Bruce Davison will also be joining the season four cast.

Is there a trailer for Ozark season 4 yet?

Sadly there certainly isn't a trailer yet, but watch this space for more updates.
