Oracle Launches New Features for Its Retail Cloud Portfolio in April

Oracle Launches Key Products in April for Big Data and Cloud Space (Part 1 of 4)

New cloud services for Oracle Retail Cloud

On April 8, 2015, Oracle (ORCL) launched six new services to its Retail Cloud offering. These new services take their foundation from the technology Oracle gained from its Micros acquisition of $5.3 billion in 2014. Micros’s peers in the retail space include leading technology players, SAP (SAP), Oracle, IBM (IBM), and Demandware.

Through Oracle Retail Cloud, Oracle aims to offer cost-effective, performance-based, and agile solutions to the retailer community as well as the retail sector.

According to Internet Retailer, Oracle ATG Commerce emerged as the most popular eCommerce Platform in 2014, closely followed by IBM Websphere. eBay (EBAY) was also a preferred option, though it was far behind Oracle and IBM. Additionally, the report cited Micros as a preferred eCommerce platform by online retailers.

In its press release, Oracle also announced the addition of the following services to its Retail Cloud portfolio:

  • Oracle Retail Brand Compliance Management Cloud Service

  • Oracle Retail Customer Engagement Cloud Service

  • Oracle Retail Open Commerce Platform Cloud Service

  • Oracle Retail Order Broker Cloud Service

  • Oracle Retail Order Management System Cloud Service

  • Oracle XBRi Cloud Service

The above-mentioned services are available on a subscription charge and are intended to deliver real-time insight into a company’s retail operations.

New retail cloud services ensure cost control as well as timeliness

According to Jill Puleri, senior vice president and general manager of Oracle Retail, “The new Oracle Retail Cloud Services help eliminate the time and cost constraints that too often hamper retailers’ ability to respond to new opportunities for growth. Just as important, Oracle Retail Cloud Services allow retailers to focus on their business and work on strategic projects that add value to the business.”

She further stated, “Oracle Retail Cloud Services dramatically accelerate deployments and help retail IT executives shift their focus from system maintenance to business innovation.”

Through Oracle Retail Cloud, Oracle enables retailers, big or small, an opportunity to avail enterprise apps that aid in handling and management of the essential aspects of a business operation. With Oracle Retail Cloud, companies don’t have to depend on the IT team to update the on-premise system. Instead, with Oracle Retail Cloud, companies will have immediate access to the upgrades that are supported by the cloud.
