No, Target Will Not Be Open On Thanksgiving This Year
  • You may be planning your shopping lists and schedules already.

  • Though it's no secret that many people have decided to get their holiday shopping done a bit earlier this year, if you're waiting until Black Friday to wrangle up your gifts for friends and family, one store that is likely on your list of places to stop by is Target.

  • Before you bundle up and head out though, you may want to know whether or not Target is actually open on Thanksgiving.

As the season begins to shift and the holiday season is rapidly approaching, you may be planning your shopping lists and schedules already. Though it's no secret that many people have decided to get their holiday shopping done a bit earlier this year, if you're waiting until Black Friday to wrangle up your gifts for friends and family, one store that is likely on your list of places to stop by is Target. Before you bundle up and head out though, you may want to know whether or not Target is actually open on Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately for those that have been in talks with their shopping gang about getting in line early on Thanksgiving to rack in the sales, Target will be closed. In fact, the major retailer actually announced the news back in January of this year. Stating that the decision came after the positive response that closing on Thanksgiving 2020 produced, the brand felt it was only right to do it again.

"We also closed our stores on Thanksgiving Day in order to minimize crowds and help our guests take the stress out of getting the best deals of the season," the company said in the January release. "The response was so positive that we’ll carry it forward this year, keeping our Target stores closed all day long on Thanksgiving Day. This is just one example of how our evolving strategy is meeting the needs of our business and our guests."

As it has been predicted that yet another surge of COVID-19 infections are expected in the U.S. this fall, many other large retailers can be expected to follow the same plan as Target. And, as a result, change the way the way shoppers experience the Black Friday experience moving forward. Here's hoping you get a jump start on your holiday shopping if you're planning to get everything from Target!
