Nissan Expands 2017 Titan Large Pickup Family with Single Cab Version

Nissan this fall will introduce its first-ever Single Cab Titan and Titan XD variants to its family of redesigned 2017 new large pickup trucks. The regular-cab variant, which is one of three body configurations offered on the 2017 Titan, will be available with new turbodiesel and V-8 engines in two grade levels in 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive. These single cab Titans are geared for work-truck buyers, according to Nissan.

The half-ton light-duty Titan shares the same rugged appearance with its larger sibling XD Titan, introduced in 2015, which also will be offered in a Single Cab variant. However, the redone half-ton Titan, which will be built at the automaker’s plant in Canton, MS, rides on a completely different chassis from the XD. It’s 14.7 inches shorter than the XD and 1.5 inches lower, although the same width as its heavy-weight XD sibling.

The redesigned Nissan large pickup will be available in three cabin choices—crew cab, king cab, and single cab. Three bed lengths will be offered: 5.5 ft.; 6.5 ft.; and 8 ft. The half-ton Titan with 6.5- and 8-ft. beds will be available in five trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum Reserve—similar to its larger sibling. Both single-cab Titan and Titan XD will share the same cab dimensions and 8-ft.-pickup beds.

The Titan XD Single Cab will be available with two powertrains, including the Cummins 5.0-liter V-8 turbodiesel that produces 310 horsepower and 555 lb.-ft. of torque and a 5.6-liter V-8, which makes 390 horsepower and 394 lb.-ft. of torque. The light-duty Titan Single Cab with a foot-shorter wheelbase is powered by the new 5.6-liter V-8 and will be available later with a V-6. Titans equipped with a diesel engine will feature a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the versions with V-8s are partnered with a 7-speed automatic. The lower S and SV trim levels will be available along with a number of optional equipment packages.
