NewsBreak- Pound Spikes as Brexit Deal Reached, Say Johnson, Juncker
Investing.com - The pound rallied on Thursday after the European Union Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson both confirmed via twitter that a Brexit deal had been reached.
GBP/USD jumped 0.8% to 1.2923 as of 5:40 AM ET (9:40 GMT). Gains were capped after Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party said it remains opposed to the proposed agreement, which means it is unlikely to be passed by the U.K. Parliament.
EUR/GBP fell 0.3% to 0.8598.
