NBCU Cable Entertainment Group Taps Key Execs

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group has named Charles Kennedy exec veep of research and insights, and Liz Mahaffey exec v.p. of brand strategy. The pair will report to NBCU Cable Entertainment chairman Bonnie Hammer.

Kennedy joins NBCU Cable from ABC, where he was senior veep of research. He will oversee primary, programming, ad sales and digital research for NBCU’s portfolio of cable nets, which includes E!, Style Network and Syfy.

“Charles is at the top of his field, a talented executive with a deep knowledge of the business,” said Hammer. “His keen insights, opinions and feedback are invaluable assets to our future growth.”

Mahaffey will focus on strategic positioning of NBCU’s cable brands. She previously was senior veep of strategic planning for USA, Syfy and Emerging Networks.

“Liz is one of the best big picture thinkers in the business,” said Hammer. “She will play a pivotal role in making the whole of this portfolio greater than the sum of its parts.”
