Yahoo Finance Warriors honor Kamala Harris' historic inauguration with moving video for 'MVP'
The Golden State Warriors are honoring one of their own on an Inauguration Day that forever ties them to history.
The team released a stirring video to celebrate Kamala Harris, the next vice president of the United States who hails from Oakland. Harris, a well-known Warriors fan, is the first woman, the first Asian American and the first Black person to hold the office.
The video opens with a young Black girl named Stella in a No. 49 Warriors jersey. She’s also from Oakland. And it ends with that same jersey in Harris’ hands as Stephen Curry virtually honors her with the gift.
She is the 49th vice president of the United States.

Stella carries the video while wearing the jersey and a suit similar to that of Harris.
“I like that Kamala is from Oakland, too,” Stella said. “I love that Kamala looks like me, and I can do anything.”
It flips to photos of Harris as a young girl and words she’s spoken in recent months about her election. Stella mimics the newest vice president’s moves, like the popular image of Harris walking down the flight of stairs in a suit jacket and Converse shoes.
“For representing the spirit of the town. Oakland Forever,” the Warriors captioned the jersey frame.
The jersey, which has a “Madame VP” nameplate, will hang in her new office, Harris said. The video ends with chants of “MVP,” for Madame Vice President.
Harris took the oath of office around 11:40 a.m. ET on Wednesday to officially take office.

The day the Associated Press projected she and Joe Biden had won the election, the Warriors honored her on Twitter with a Curry jersey signed by the star himself.
Curry wrote, “To Kamala. Bay Area -> D.C. Congrats!!” with his signature and No. 30.
Curry and his family endorsed the Biden-Harris ticket at the Democratic National Convention in August. His wife, Ayesha Curry, and their three children were a part of the video.
