NEW YORK, May 09, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At the end of the settlement date of April 28, 2023, short interest in 3,390 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 10,469,054,205 shares compared with 10,642,155,793 shares in 3,408 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of April 14, 2023. The end of April short interest represent 3.07 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.13 days for the prior reporting period.

Short interest in 1,771 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 2,449,765,990 shares at the end of the settlement date of April 28, 2023 compared with 2,265,689,720 shares in 1,773 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents a 1.59 day average daily volume; the previous reporting period’s figure was 1.82.

In summary, short interest in all 5,161 Nasdaq® securities totaled 12,918,820,195 shares at the April 28, 2023 settlement date, compared with 5,181 issues and 12,907,845,513 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 2.61 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 2.78 days for the previous reporting period.
