Motorola Droid Turbo Gets Android Marshmallow update.
Great news Motorola Droid Turbo owners! Your handset is now getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow treatment. If you are eager to do that big jump from Lollipop to Marshmallow, then all you need to do is follow the instructions below.
After a month of testing, Verizon is finally rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update to its Motorola Droid Turbo handsets in the United States. Hence, its just right for consumers who have been craving for this sweet treat to download the update right away.
Android Marshmallow is arriving to the Droid Turbo via an OTA update, and per The Android Soul, the build code for this update is 24.81.5.en-US. Because the update is still fresh, Verizon has yet to post the changelog on its software update page.
Since this is an over-the-air update, users should just wait for a notification to reach their handset. According to users who already got the update, the notification reads: “This software update for your Motorola Droid Turbo will update your software to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow).”
Users will have two options to choose from for this notification: Later or Install Now. Owners should click on Install Now if their smartphone has more than 50 percent battery and is plugged in to a charger. Otherwise, they should just click Later and install the update when they already meet the stated conditions. The installation process takes around 25 minutes, so it’s really best to condition the device by ensuring that it has sufficient battery.
Users can also check if they already have access to the Android Marshmallow update by going to Settings>About Device>Software Updates>Update Now. This action prompts the device to check if a new update is already available for downloading, so this is also useful when waiting for the newly rolled out update.
As per Phone Arena, while it isn’t clear whether the new software version comes with the latest security patch from Google, it is already certain that updated Motorola Droid Turbo devices are getting Now on Tap, Doze mode and Wi-Fi Calling features.
Since the Droid Turbo is already a 2-year-old device, this could be the final major software update it will be getting. It is unlikely for the phone to get the Android 7.0 Nougat version.
