Mortal Kombat actor Lewis Tan is headed to rom-com territory alongside American Horror Story's Emma Roberts.

Via Deadline, it's been reported that he and Kong: Skull Island star Thomas Mann have been added to the cast of upcoming movie About Fate, which is being directed by Marius Weisberg next month in Boston.

The movie itself tells the tale of two people who, despite believing in love, never seem to be able to source its true meaning.

Fate's hand soon comes a-knocking, placing them on a collision course during one stormy New Year's Eve – comedy and chaos ensues.

Covering Tan's most recent big screen effort Mortal Kombat, Digital Spy wrote in our three-star review: "The fight scenes are Mortal Kombat's saving grace as they're beautifully shot, avoiding quick-cut editing that affects many action-set pieces.

"As with their gory fatalities, there are no holds barred in the fights and they make full use of the international cast with various styles on display. You'll want more, but you have to make do with more exposition scenes instead."

Expect About Fate to be released in 2022, while Mortal Kombat is available to rent at home in the UK from Prime Video, iTunes and other digital retailers.
