VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - June 04, 2015) - Microsoft (MSFT) announced this week that it will be opening two data centres in Canada. These much anticipated openings will increase MediaValet's (TSX VENTURE: MVP) global footprint to 23 data centres and, for the first time, enable the Company to meet the digital asset management needs of all Canadian companies, including those in highly regulated sectors, such as healthcare, government and education.

According to IDC, the total spend on public cloud in Canada is projected to grow to $2.5B by 2016, of which the fastest growth will be from the Public sector, projected to increase by 45% by next year.

"The announcement of Microsoft's new Canadian data centers is a tremendous opportunity for us to grow our Canadian customer-base," said David MacLaren, President and CEO at MediaValet. "Microsoft's investment removes a vital barrier that has prevented us from working with major sectors of the Canadian market and broaden our offering for international companies. We're excited to finally be able to provide local services in Canada."

General availability of Microsoft Azure being delivered from data centers in Canada is anticipated in 2016. "Microsoft Corporation's investment in locally deployed cloud services continues to showcase Microsoft's commitment to our Canadian and global customers and partners alike," said Jason Brommet, Director of Partner Business & Development at Microsoft Canada. "We are pleased to work with global partners who continue to push innovation and drive business transformation, and look forward to continuing collaboration with technology partners to help grow their business on their home soil."
