From Harper's BAZAAR

Malia and Sasha Obama have had quite a bit to say lately, according to their mother, former First Lady Michelle Obama.

During an interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America today, Obama revealed that as of late, she and her husband, former President Barack Obama, can hardly get a word in at the dinner table.

"If you sit around the dinner table, me and Barack, we can't get a word in edgewise, and we like it like that," she said. "We want to hear their thoughts and their opinions, and that's where it begins."

The Becoming author also expressed that she's instilled the importance of confidently expressing one's thoughts and opinions in her daughters since they were young.

"I always have wanted them to start practising the power of their voices very early on," she said. "What I hope they learn is that who they are right now is enough."

Encouraging her daughters to express themselves is clearly paying off. Just last month, it was revealed that her firstborn daughter, Malia, would be taking on a new job as part of Donald Glover's writing room.

The eldest Obama daughter is reportedly lending her pen to a potential Amazon series titled Hive, which is believed to be about a Beyoncé-esque pop star character created by Watchmen producer Janine Nabers. The series would mark Malia's first major project post-college, as the former First Daughter is set to graduate from Harvard University later this year.
