A Miami Miracle Tops This Week’s Most Expensive New Listings

It looks like we have a classic East Coast versus West Coast battle among this week’s most expensive new listings on realtor.com®.

The eye-catcher this week came in at No. 4: a stately historic mansion in New York’s Hudson River Valley, complete with a Greek temple–inspired pool, 290 acres, and an upper-crust past. According to the listing, the land was a wedding gift for Franklin Hughes Delano and his wife, Laura Astor Delano—the great-uncle and great-aunt of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It’s so much better than a toaster!

Topping the list this week is a beyond-high-end escape on Miami’s celestially named Star Island. For an astronomical price, you get your own dock, your own stretch of waterfront views, and practically your own private sunset. (Frosty cocktails to enjoy said sunset not included, alas.)

If you’re convinced that the West is best, check out the tony city of Beverly Hills, with its iconic 90210 ZIP code. This must be the priciest fixer-upper in town—it’s listed as a “development opportunity” for $28 million.

Read all about this week’s priciest pads!

1. 1 Star Island Dr., Miami Beach, FL

Price: $37,000,000
Luxe factor: A star is born. This estate sprawls over a 58,332-square-foot corner lot in the lush landscape of exclusive Star Island. It includes a four-bedroom, five-bathroom “Floridian villa” with wraparound verandas boasting views of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami. There’s also a separate guesthouse—because if you’re this rich, do you really want to sleep in the same house as all your guests?

2. 25 Nostrand Pkwy, Shelter Island, NY

Price: $32,000,000
Luxe factor: The 7,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom Queen Anne dating to 1800 has been thoughtfully updated to convey a posh but beachy vibe. With almost 5 acres, the property includes 400 feet of water frontage, an 80-foot-long dock, lush green lawn, charming boathouse, heated pool, basketball court, and guesthouse.

3. 22 Beverly Park Ter, Beverly Hills, CA

Price: $28,000,000
Luxe factor: Buy this place and you get Beverly Hills bragging rights. Need we say more? Actually, yes. The five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom Mediterranean built in 1993 comes with a pool and 2 acres of achingly green lawn. (What drought?) While the home certainly looks move-in ready, perhaps beige tile and granite counters are no longer your thing—in which case, call in the renovators to create your own customized estate.

4. 89 Martins Ln, Red Hook, NY

Price: $22,000,000
Luxe factor: Talk about Old World. Built in 1851, this 16,608-square-foot Hudson River estate on 290 acres, dubbed Atalanta, includes “museum-quality details and luxury amenities rarely attained.” The Red Hook, NY, site (not to be confused with the hipster hood in Brooklyn) boasts a pool, carriage house, multiple guesthouses, tennis courts, eight-stall barn, riding ring, and more. The property also includes manicured gardens with a koi pond, fountains, and many other features worthy of the bluest of blue bloods—or any old buyer with bags of cash.

5. 11 Cove Hollow Farm Rd, East Hampton, NY

Price:$19,750,000
Luxe factor: It’s not too late to buy an obscenely expensive summer home in the Hamptons. (It’s never too late!) Built in 2008, the five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home on a 3-acre lot has a lot to offer. The shingled abode boasts 408 feet fronting Georgica Pond, and if that’s not enough water for you, there’s also a pool. The high-ceilinged interiors feature formal living and dining rooms, an open kitchen, a master suite, and three guest suites, plus a separate one-bedroom apartment. And according to the listing, zoning would allow for “substantial house expansion.”
