Meghan Markle Sent the Sweetest Gift for Prince Philip's Funeral

Though Meghan Markle wasn't able to attend Prince Philip's funeral alongside her husband, Prince Harry, this morning, she provided a thoughtful gesture in her absence.

According to multiple reports, the duchess sent a handwritten note, and with Harry, a wreath to be laid in the Duke of Edinburgh's honor during the ceremony. The floral arrangement was designed by Willow Crossley — who did the flowers for the couple's wedding reception and Archie's christening — and featured a variety of flowers with special meaning, including Acanthus mollis (the national flower of Greece, representing Philip's heritage), eryngium for the Royal Marines, and roses in honor of the duke's birth month of June.

Last week, Harry touched down in the U.K. in preparation for Philip's funeral, leaving Meghan and Archie behind in California. Meghan, who is pregnant and expecting the couple's second child, was instructed not to travel at this point in her pregnancy. And while she couldn't physically be with Harry and the rest of the royals, People confirmed that the duchess is watching the ceremony from the comfort of her home in Montecito.

The Queen is said to "understand" why Meghan can't be there. "It was always a given that Harry would return to England for his grandfather's passing," a source previously told People. "Meghan expressed condolences. The Queen understands why she can't travel at the moment."
