McDonald's Is Testing Out the First New Happy Meal In 30 Years

From Delish

All-day breakfast isn't just for grown-ups anymore. USA Today reports that after rolling out all-day breakfast items across the country, it's testing out the same for Happy Meals.

The test is only at 73 restaurants in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which Grub Street notes was the first place that McDonald's tried out the all-day breakfast menu to begin with. A representative for McDonald's told the Associated Press that if the program eventually goes national, it will be the first new Happy Meal in more than 30 years.

The breakfast meals come with either two McGriddle cakes (240 calories) or a regular-sized Egg McMuffin without butter or Canadian bacon (260 calories). They also come with a side of apples, yogurt, or hash browns (at certain restaurants only), and in the evenings, fries are also on offer.

But not everybody is happy with this new development. The Street notes that McDonald's has been focusing on increasing the quality of its ingredients and expanding its healthy menu options, but that's not necessarily the case when they're offering syrupy McGriddles to kids. But just like fast food in general, it's best to treat these breakfast Happy Meals as occasional treat, not an everyday occurrence.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
