Ya know how people say you shouldn’t eat garlic because it gives you bad breath? Well, we couldn’t care less. Garlic is delicious AND it wards off vampires. In fact, we love garlic so much that we’d like to embroider “Garlic is bae” on a pillow. Considering their latest menu addition, we have a feeling that McDonald’s would be on board with this craft project.

Starting in only four of its San Francisco-based stores, Business Insider reports that McDonald’s is adding “Gilroy Garlic Fries” to its list of fast food fare. You may now be wondering where the “Gilroy” part of the title comes from. Well, let us enlighten you: Gilroy, California is known as “The Garlic Capital of the World” and the garlic on McDonald’s fries comes directly from there.

In addition to garlic, olive oil, parmesan cheese, parsley, and a bit of salt are sprinkled upon the fries. Cheese and garlic? We are in food heaven… but we’re not in San Francisco.

Michael Haracz, manager of culinary innovation at McDonald’s USA, explains, “We’re proud of the work done by local franchisees and the regional team to create this menu item with locally-sourced garlic and we look forward to introducing Gilroy Garlic Fries to our customers in the Bay Area.” If this menu expansion is successful in San Fran, then maybe it will spread to ALL the McDonald’s in the world! Because everyone deserves garlic fries!

The medium fries will be an extra $0.59 and the large will be $0.69 extra. Garlic fries: You’re worth it.
