This McDonald’s is bringing back the McPizza in a truly wonderful way
Do you remember the McPizza? It was once available at McDonald’s restaurants in the late ’80s and early ’90s, but ended up being discontinued at all but two restaurants, for a few reasons — one, the pizza took too long to make, and two, because when we think of McDonald’s, we think of burgers and fries. But, that doesn’t mean that McDonald’s still isn’t trying to make menu items like this work. Perhaps it’ll just take one location to make a huge change.
And, we happen to know the exact location that’ll help this company make some waves. A brand new McDonald’s in Orlando, Florida has been making the news for not only offering customizable pizza, but pasta and omelets, as well. Customers can order what they’re craving on large screens, giving them full control over customizable items like meats, sauces, cheeses, and vegetable toppings. And speaking of pizza toppings, they’ve got it all, from mushrooms to jalapeño peppers. Here’s the menu in action.
Pizzas are cooked in a brick oven at this 24-hour location, which, by the way, is colossal — the Orlando McDonald’s boasts that it’s the “world’s largest entertainment” McDonald’s, housing brand new arcade games in its two-story, 19,000-square foot building. Of course their Play Place is also massive, measuring in at 22-feet tall.
The pizzas are only part of the “create your taste” menu, which McDonald’s has been discussing rolling out for quite some time. The customizable menu allows customers to use touch screens to help ensure their order are correct. The kitchens at this McDonald’s are open, which means that customers can witness their fresh food being made. Could we ask for anything more?
While these daring items definitely set this location apart (and make us want to visit Orlando, ASAP) who knows? Maybe other locations will test out this idea, revolutionizing the concept of McDonald’s as we know it.
