Mazzanti EV-R supercar to reach 250 mph

Mazzanti is just weeks away from unveiling its Project EV-R.

The car is a more extreme version of the company’s Evantra supercar and promises to be the fastest, most powerful car out of Italy.

In its latest teaser, Mazzanti has revealed that the EV-R has a targeted top speed of 250 mph. That’s a higher top speed than the Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] LaFerrari and Pagani Huayra can achieve and a symbol of the extreme goals Mazzanti has set for the car.

To deliver this Veyron-like performance, the EV-R will feature a twin-turbocharged 7.2-liter V-8. Peak output hasn’t been announced but the naturally-aspirated 7.0-liter V-8 fitted to the Evantra is already delivering 751 horsepower, so you can imagine what bolting on a pair of turbos will do.

Other performance specs we know include a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a 186-0 mph time of 7.0 seconds. Mazzanti has also confirmed that the EV-R will have a 10-centimeter wide track than the Evantra along with carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo, lightweight wheels from OZ Racing, and sticky Trofeo R tires from Pirelli.

The world debut will take place June 8 at the 2016 Turin Auto Show (officially the Parco Valentino). We can't wait.
