Maxta Introduces Industry's First Freemium Hyperconvergence Solution

Free MxSP Software License to Reduce Up-Front Cost and Speed Deployment for Enterprises of All Sizes

Chart

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - August 29, 2016) - VMworld 2016 -- Maxta Inc., a leading provider of software-based hyperconvergence, today announced at VMworld 2016 the introduction of a freemium licensing model for its award-winning MxSP® software. The new licensing model, an industry first in the hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) segment, offers a simpler, more economical approach for enterprises to evaluate, test and quickly deploy HCI in their IT environments.

Qualified organizations in the U.S., Canada and select European countries may receive a perpetual, transferable license to a fully-featured version of Maxta® MxSP software free of charge, enabling users to configure and deploy a three-node HCI cluster with a maximum storage capacity of 24 terabytes.

Downloads of the free software will be available beginning September 30, 2016. An online community sponsored by Maxta will be available to provide a forum for peer assistance and access to self-help resources.

MxSP software helps IT teams of any size transform their complex and costly virtualized infrastructure into an agile, efficient architecture by converging traditionally separate compute and storage tiers. The result is dramatically simpler management and significant cost savings by eliminating the need for expensive and complicated storage area networks and storage arrays.

"Maxta's introduction of a freemium software licensing model is a truly innovative way of making hyperconvergence much more accessible and affordable for all enterprises," said Terri McClure, ESG Senior Analyst. "For enterprises looking for greater IT agility and efficiency, starting at much lower cost and going from the lab to data center in a seamless motion makes free and premium MxSP software worthy of serious consideration."

Maxta software-based HCI solutions offer unparalleled freedom of choice in servers, storage and virtualization platforms, eliminating expensive vendor lock-in and creating much greater flexibility than hardware-centric HCI appliances. MxSP-enabled clusters can support any x86-based server including all-flash or hybrid storage configurations. Clusters may be scaled up or scaled out in increments as small as a single storage device or server at a time. Compute-only nodes may also be added to scale computing power independently of storage capacity.

"By making a fully-featured Maxta HCI solution available through a freemium model, we're simplifying and accelerating the evaluation, testing and deployment of hyperconverged infrastructure while removing obstacles such as significant up-front cost and complicated production transitions," said Yoram Novick, founder and chief executive, Maxta Inc. "Users can now start easily, progress quickly and move seamlessly to full production deployment without disruption."

Free MxSP licenses may be non-disruptively upgraded to a premium license, enabling unlimited capacity scaling and the ability to add additional server nodes. Premium licenses include full software maintenance, product enhancements and access to 7X24 Maxta support.

MxSP software licenses may be transferred without additional charge, offering significant lifetime value by eliminating the need to pay again for software when replacing or upgrading server technology.

Maxta will be demonstrating MxSP software at VMworld 2016 in Las Vegas at booth #1567 during Solutions Exchange hours daily.
