MasterCard (MA) Stock Sinks As Market Gains: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, MasterCard (MA) closed at $367.59, marking a -1.02% move from the previous day. This change lagged the S&P 500's 0.62% gain on the day. At the same time, the Dow added 0.5%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 5.66%.

Prior to today's trading, shares of the processor of debit and credit card payments had lost 2.91% over the past month. This has lagged the Business Services sector's gain of 2.82% and the S&P 500's gain of 3.44% in that time.

Investors will be hoping for strength from MasterCard as it approaches its next earnings release. The company is expected to report EPS of $2.98, up 16.41% from the prior-year quarter. Meanwhile, our latest consensus estimate is calling for revenue of $6.18 billion, up 12.48% from the prior-year quarter.

Looking at the full year, our Zacks Consensus Estimates suggest analysts are expecting earnings of $12.25 per share and revenue of $25.15 billion. These totals would mark changes of +15.02% and +13.11%, respectively, from last year.
