Yahoo Finance Masahiro Tanaka returns to Yankee Stadium only two days after taking 112 mph liner to head
Masahiro Tanaka taking a line drive to the head while throwing to teammate Giancarlo Stanton was a terrifying moment for baseball, but the news since has been nothing but good.
So good, in fact, that the New York Yankees right-hander was back at Yankee Stadium just two days after the line drive, according to ESPN’s Marly Rivera.
Tanaka’s official diagnosis is reportedly a mild concussion and he was apparently symptom free in New York on Sunday. Pretty good for a guy who took a line drive to the head reportedly measured at 112 mph.

Tanaka had been sent to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and was released on Saturday. He posted a tweet indicating he was still feeling some effects, but overall felt good.

Tanaka currently holds a rotation spot behind newly acquired ace Gerrit Cole, and will be looking to improve on last year’s 4.45 ERA effort. He is coming out of an offseason in which he had bone spurs removed from his pitching elbow.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the team “dodged a bullet” with Tanaka’s prognosis.

"He came in around noon today and was in really good spirits," Boone said. "Got a really good night sleep; no loss of appetite. We're encouraged where he is and we'll take it day by day, but hopefully it's not something that'll take too long. Since he got to the hospital, he's pretty much been symptom-free and feeling good ... [was] in good spirits popping around today, so I think at this point we're really encouraged."
The Yankees remain on track for a reported Opening Day matchup against the Washington Nationals on July 23.
