We may know Sochi as a place where folks sit at toilettes side by side, athletes sleep in unfinished hotels and stray dogs have a real reason to be nervous. But for the Russians, Sochi has historically been a wonderful vacation spot. It is also home to one Maria Sharapova, who now has a special edition Porsche Panamera to count among her many trophies.
Sharapova came back to visit Sochi, and to commemorate, the tennis player and Porsche brand ambassador was presented with the Porsche Panamera GTS “by Maria Sharapova.” It takes the already-special Panamera GTS and adds custom touches directed by Sharapova. Those modifications include expanded leather interior application, with creme stitiching and carbon fiber elements.
The instrument panel matches the “Carrera White” exterior paint job, and “Maria Sharapova” is emblazoned onto the carbon fiber door guards.
Like the woman who now drives it, the Panamera is a blend of grace and power. It features a 440 horsepower 4.8-liter V8. It will get the tennis player to her next match in style, as it rockets from 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds. One of her serves will actually get to 60 faster, but the Porsche can hit a top speed of 179 mph (on the track). Sharapova’s serve speed sits around 113 mph. The fastest serve ever was recorded by an Australian in 2012. It hit 163.4 mph. Not too bad.
