Police are appealing for help after a serious assault left a man fighting for life in south east London.

Scotland Yard released images of a second male they said might be able to assist them with enquiries.

He is wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and holding a mobile.

Officers were called to an attack in High Street, Beckenham around 01:22am on Sunday.

London Ambulance Service found a 42-year-old man with a head injury.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed.

Detective Inspector Tom Revell, of the Met’s South Area Command CID, said: “Initial enquiries suggest that the assault occurred after a confrontation in the street between the victim and another man.
