Arthur celebrates his 100th birthday with a Chicken McSandwich meal (SWNS)

Arthur Probert knew exactly what he wanted to do for his 100th birthday party - eat a McDonald’s.

The great-grandfather marked his landmark birthday by tucking into his favourite McChicken Sandwich with fries, all washed down with a diet coke.

Arthur, from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, is no stranger to the fast food chain and heads to McDonald’s once a week for a Chicken McSandwich.

“I really like McDonald’s and eat at the restaurant near my home every week,” he said.

"I’m partial to the McChicken sandwich but I’ve had Big Macs and almost every other burger as well.”

He said the secret to a long life was his marriage.

Arthur was married for 70 years to Doris before she passed away four years ago.

"Doris was a lovely lady and we lived very happily together.

"I’m very lucky to have such a wonderful family. It was great to be able to share my birthday with them."
