Los Angeles Lakers update injury status of LeBron James, Anthony Davis for game vs. Kings

The Los Angeles Lakers expect Anthony Davis to play when they face the Kings for the second time in five days Tuesday night at Golden 1 Center. LeBron James will not play.

The superstar entered coronavirus protocols Tuesday, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charnia.

Earlier in the day, the Lakers (11-11) listed James as questionable against the Kings (8-13) due to a rectus abdominal strain, the same injury that sidelined him for eight games in early November. James was considered questionable for Friday’s game against the Kings as well, but he logged 50 minutes in a 141-137 triple-overtime loss at Staples Center.

Davis is listed as probable due to a head contusion to his right temporal region. The team said he has shown no symptoms of a concussion since taking an elbow to the head in the loss to Sacramento. Davis was added to the injury report Monday after posting 24 points and 10 rebounds in Sunday’s 110-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

James has appeared in only 11 games this season, averaging 25.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists. Davis has appeared in all but one game, averaging 24.2 points and 10.1 rebounds. He has logged a total of 130 minutes in the past three games. James appeared to be in some discomfort in Sunday’s game against the Pistons, but he insisted he would be available against the Kings.

“I’m alright,” James said. “I’ll be ready to go on Tuesday.”

James had 30 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists in Friday’s game against the Kings. Davis had 23 points and eight rebounds with four assists, four blocks and three steals.

The Lakers said veteran point guard Avery Bradley is questionable against the Kings due to right hand soreness. Trevor Ariza (ankle) and Kendrick Nunn (knee) are out and have yet to play for the Lakers this season.
