This is what it looks like when 9 Ferraris are lined up in London

(Ferrari SpA)

Ferrari recently debuted its new 488 GTB in London. The 488 is the car maker's successor to the 458, considered by many to the finest mid-engined V8 sports car ever created by human hands on planet Earth.

There's a big difference between the 458 and the 488: the 488 is turbocharged. A V8 is a V8, but the 488's is smaller than the 458's. The goal here is to update Ferrari's engines, adapting them to a future in which howling, air-breathing V8s will be considered gas-guzzling dinosaurs, a crude through exhilarating vestige of a vanished age.

Bottom line: the 488 is a big deal for Ferrari. And so the company created a proper celebration for the car's roll-out in the UK. Complete with a line of 9 GTBs: a glorious column of "rosso corsa" – Ferrari red.
