Looking for Halloween weekend family fun? Here’s a list of Sacramento-area events for kids

·4 min read

Halloween is finally here. And — lucky for us — we have the whole weekend to dress up in our best ghostly attire and spread some holiday haunt.

This past month, the Sacramento area did not disappoint with its spooky season activities, with pumpkin patches, haunted houses and mazes.

But for families looking for a sweeter and child-friendly scare to celebrate this weekend, here are some events in the Sacramento area:

Trunk or Treat

Meadowview Birth & Beyond Family Resource Center is hosting a Trunk or Treat event where kids can wear their costumes and get some candy. Masks are required.

When: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday

Where: Florin Square, 2251 Florin Rd., Sacramento

Addam’s Family Halloween Drive Through

This free event is presented by Belle Cooledge Community Center. Families can cruise through the community center’s parking lot and trick-or-treat right from their car window. There will also be music, giveaways and drive-through activities. You can register for the event on Eventbrite.

When: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday

Where: Belle Cooledge Community Center, 5699 S. Land Park Drive, Sacramento

Trunk or Treat by Parm Atwal Real Estate Team

For this Trunk or Treat event, there’ll be costume contests, candy and more. When you register for the event on Eventbrite, you’ll also be entered into some goody bag giveaways.

When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday

Where: 4080 Truxel Road, Sacramento

Trick-or-Treating at Westfield Galleria

Who said you can only trick-or-treat at night? Young goblins and ghouls can scour for some sweet treats at Westfield Galleria at Roseville Saturday afternoon.

Just look for retailers that have a ghost in their windows.

At the Center Court of the mall, there will be performances “from the witches of Hocus Pocus,” a meet and greet with photo opportunities and a live DJ.

When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will also be retailer trick-or-treating on Halloween day.

Where: Westfield Galleria, 1151 Galleria Blvd., Roseville

Trunk or Treat by Bayside Church

This Saturday, Bayside Church in Roseville will host their 25th annual Trunk or Treat event. Families can enjoy inflatable activities, bounce houses, food trucks and — of course — candy. Everyone is encouraged to wear a costume.

You can also participate by decorating your “trunk” to pass out candy, donating sweets or volunteering. You can find more information here.

When: 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Bayside Church, 8191 Sierra College Blvd., Roseville

Halloween at Hagan

At the Hagan Community Center, children and parents can enjoy trunk-or-treating, carnival games, a zombie run and a themed obstacle course. Admission is $5 per child, while supervising adults are free. You can get your cash-only tickets at the door or register online.

If you’re getting treats via the Trunk or Treat event, then admission is free.

When: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday

Where: Hagan Community Center, 2197 Chase Dr., Rancho Cordova

Davis Downtown Treat Trail

Kids can go trick-or-treating at local businesses for the Davis Downtown Treat Trail. This popular community tradition will feature live music, zombies and prizes.

When: 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

Where: 826 2nd St, Davis

Dia de Los Muertos Community Event

On Sunday, families can celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, which means Day of the Dead in Spanish, at Bryte Park. You can honor loved ones that have passed by bringing photos of them and food offerings for the altar.

The event will also have free food, music, Aztec and folkloric dancers, pony rides and a petting zoo.

When: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Sunday

Where: Bryte Park, 425 Todhunter Ave., West Sacramento

Kids Halloween Party

Just for Fun Art is having a Kids Halloween Party. Children of all ages can wear their costumes, dance, make crafts and play games. Tickets start at $15 per child, but it’s $25 for two and $35 for three kids. Parents are free.

There will be nachos, punch and sweet treats for kids. Other snacks will be available for purchase. You can also snap some spooky memories at the photo booth for $2.

Face masks are required.
