Listen: C8 Corvette Z06 Clocks in at 188 MPH in Daring Speed Test

A treat for your senses.

Get ready to have your speedometer tested! When it comes to marrying style with blistering speed, the 2023 C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is shaping up to be the talk of the town. Already famed for its scrupulous engineering and a mind-blowing base price of around $100,000, the Z06 has turned yet another impressive page in its performance diary.

A beast under the hood, the car is armed with a naturally aspirated V8 engine that cranks out an eye-watering 670 horsepower. It’s not just the numbers on paper—this speed demon sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds. And if you're wondering how fast it can go when fully unleashed, hold onto your hat—a jaw-dropping 195 mph! While some might argue there are faster cars out there, few can boast delivering this speed at such a budget-friendly price point.

But what happens when you throw in the Z07 package, designed to make this Corvette even more of a racetrack superstar? Enter the speed wizards at Hennessey Performance, who were itching to see just how far they could push this machine.

On their top-speed test track, they coaxed the Z06 to a staggering 188 mph. While this might sound a tad lower than the max speed, there's a crucial element at play here: the Z07’s aerodynamic features, especially its enormous rear spoiler, generate a ton of downforce, inevitably increasing drag and thus capping top speed. But here's the kicker—that downforce is a blessing when navigating sharp turns and braking zones on the track.
